Who We Are
Hello! We are Jeff and Abbie Nelson (and our kids: Cora, Lucie and Hazel) and we are in the lift-off phase of a life of mission work in Guatemala. Abbie is a family nurse practitioner and Jeff is a clinical psychologist. We have long felt a calling to use our skills to bring tangible, compassionate, sustainable good to bear on the lives of marginalized and poverty-bound people in Guatemala and we are grateful to be in this beautiful country, doing the work God has called us to do. Jeff was invited by a network of national leaders to provide support to pastors, teachers, and counselors with the aim of improving mental health care. Abbie is providing healthcare in the neighborhood surrounding the city dump and starting a much needed diabetes program. We have been in Guatemala since September of 2018 and have committed to a starting term of five years. Our home is in Portland, Oregon and our sending agency is Serge .
